Please join us for a double screening of Mimesis of Mimesis, 2016 and Linnæus in Tenebris, 2017 by Naufus Ramírez Figueroa. Presented in conjunction with Ramírez-Figueroa’s solo exhibition Shit-Baby and the Crumpled Giraffe, currently on view at Plug In ICA, the two videos will be screened as part of our ongoing Respondent Series. These works in particular offer insight into Ramírez-Figueroa’s dexterity as a performance artist and his investment in the formal language of theatre.
Both Mimesis of Mimesis and Linnæus in Tenebris are part of an ongoing commission by Corpus (EU) and If I Can’t Dance (Amsterdam) which propose an “attempt to exhaust [Ramírez-Figueroa’s] interest in the Guatemalan Civil War as a recurring subject of his work”. More info here.
